Dardanup PS School Council
As a Department of Education Primary School Dardanup Primary School is required to have a School Council which is comprised of parents, staff and community representatives.
The current Dardanup Primary School Board was formed in 2014 after a process to elect parent and staff representatives.
The Council is made up of 8 elected parent representatives, 2 staff, 2 co-opted community members and the Principal. Melissa Coulson is the current Chair of the Board.
The Principal is responsible for the educational leadership, operation and management of the school. To maximise the input of the School Council in developing school policies, the Principal seeks advice and will receive recommendations from the School Council and the Principal reports regularly to the Council on the school’s progress.
The School Council meets twice a term to support the Principal in the governance of the school. Policies are reviewed and endorsed, financial matters discussed as well as school performance data reviewed.
In particular, the School Council assists the Principal in:
*creating a Strategic Plan
*determining the school’s budget, key performance indicators and measurements for success of the school’s performance
*developing processes to review the satisfaction level of parents, staff and students and report the results in the Annual Report
*creating the school’s Annual Report
