It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Dardanup Primary School and its website. As you look and read through the site you will get a feel for our school, the students and staff who work within and the strength of our wider school community.
Dardanup Primary School with 168 students draws its clientele from surrounding rural towns and within. Our families choose the tranquillity of a rural lifestyle just 20km from the city of Bunbury benefitting from the resources and facilities of a large city. Buses transport students from Ferguson Valley, Burekup, Boyanup, Dardanup West, Waterloo and Wellington Mills.
The school is resourced with a well- equipped library, early childhood centre, senior and middle primary teaching blocks catering from Kindergarten to year 6 students. The excellent facilities mean that staff and students have access to open learning spaces and large multi-purpose areas that allows flexibility for various teaching and learning styles.
The school grounds are landscaped with large grassed playing areas. A basketball court is regularly used for after school team training as well as during school hours. The Nature Playground is a feature of outdoor play at Dardanup Primary School. This playground continually develops in stages to provide our students with challenges and expectations of more to come. Students show nature play working at its best by creating their cubbies with natural resources gathered from the surrounding environment. This is the essence of nature play with children working together to create, problem solve, social play, leadership and having fun at play.
The Nature Playground is an example of a vibrant partnership between school and the wider community. Building such partnerships requires visioning, strategic planning, creative leadership and new multifaceted roles for professionals who work in schools and communities. We are most fortunate in having a parent body with such inspirational vision. We value the partnerships between school and home and encourage regular, ongoing parent and community involvement.
Our staff are committed to providing the highest quality teaching and learning opportunities. Literacy and Numeracy skills and the implementation of latest technology to engage students are our priorities. Early childhood education is guided by the National Quality Standard with classroom practice supported by the Peel Language Development Centre. This expertise and data analysis ensures our students are provided with a differentiated curriculum meeting student needs.
Our extension programs cater for a wide range of interests and abilities to both challenge and motivate students. Specialist teachers in Drama, Music, Arts & LOTE value add to an enriched learning program.
We are proud of our school community and are aware that in order for students to achieve we must constantly review and refine programs and practices with a focus on high expectations. At Dardanup we strive to provide a balance between a student’s intellectual, physical, emotional and social needs within an inclusive, caring, respectful and safe learning environment. Dardanup Primary School continues to enjoy a reputation as a school of distinction, promoting innovation and opportunity.
Carpe Diem: Seize the day, make the most of your opportunities while at school.
